Driver Intel 915gm Windows 8
Mobile Intel® 915GM/GMS. So you might have to wait until they release Windows 8 drivers (if they make them for your model).
- Sep 29, 2011 Please make Intel GM 915 Chipset driver compatible Windows 8. It works well on Windows 7. No this is not possible. Windows 8 uses WDDM 1.20.
- Download drivers for Intel Mobile (R) 915GM/GMS,910GML Express Chipset Family video cards for free. Operating System Versions: Windows XP, 7, 8, 8.1,.
- Win7 works on Intel 915GM chipset. I think there should be a driver for Intel 915GM/910 in Windows 8, it is just required to somebody modify the latest driver.
Are there any drivers compatible with Windows 7 for the Mobile Intel915GM/GMS, 910GML Express Chipset Family VGA adapter?
Intel's site says it is discontinued:

I had this exact issue recently. I attempted to manually install a number of the drivers, including Vista-patched drivers, around on the Internet but Windows 7 would automatically remove the driver upon reboot.
I later found that you can use the standard Windows XP driver if you run the setup program in XP compatibility mode. The driver will install, but it still will not be able to detect the connected monitor, so you'll have to resort to standard screen resolutions, such as 1280x1024 or 1024x768.
They have the chipset drivers for W7, but no graphics driver is available.

MoabMoabTry to install the Vista drivers manually from the *.inf
files; they should work on Windows 7.
I would recommend looking into a shim. Shims allow you to trick a windows XP/Vista installer into running on a Win7 box. They're the 'jedi mind tricks' of the IT world.

This is slowly driving me up the wall. I've been trying to get this working all day.
Aware there may be some compatibility problems I installed Windows 8.1 Pro 32 bit on my Acer Aspire 1640Z. It runs ok for what I need it for until I upgrade soon.
After getting my network drivers installed I realised that I was stuck at 1024x768 with no option to increase the resolution of the display. I've tried Windows XP drivers and Windows 7 Drivers in compatibility mode to no avail, yet I cannot find any vista drivers to try.
This laptop has been from XP to 7 to Ubuntu to 8.1 over the course of its life and I'm hoping that windows 8 will give me a little bit more usability before I buy a new one next year.
Am I stuck with 1024x768? Or is there a way of forcing an install?
I tried installing a driver but it got to the end and then said that there was an incorrect version of windows installed, these drivers being windows 7. So maybe there is a way of editing the ini file to make it work? I can't figure it out myself but I'm hoping someone may be able to help.
