Verukkal(Malayatoor) , Nalukettu (MT), daivathinte vikrathikal,Mayyazhipuzhayude theerangalil (Mukundan), Pathummayude Adu (Basheer), Punathil's Smaraka silakal are the nolstalgic novels of all time.
T.D Ramakrishnan's ' Francis Etticora' is a rarest classic.
Malayatoors's 'Yakshi'-psyco-thriller, Benyamen's 'Manjaveyil Maranangal' are the rarest thrillers.
Benyamen's classic -Adu geevitham(one of the all time classic)

Being a 'Malayalam-must-read-books'-list' it would be more appropriate if we select/add books on the basis of one more criterion namely 'by-a-Malayali-author'. This would allow identifying and promoting unknown/unheard of Malayalam authors and titles which I believe are mostly overshadowed by the books of big authors, promoted through mainstream.
In my opinion, inclusion of books translated from other languages beats the purpose of this list . This could lead to inclusion of translated fiction from the western countries and other regions which is irrelevant to this list (like the ones in #109 & #117).

I read the books mentioned above and I felt they are touching, readable and priaseworthy. But the reason why they are not so popular because they are published after his Magnum opus 'Adu Jeevitham'.The same fate can be seen in several other good books. Milton's 'Lycidas' is an excellent example.

Gouri and other stories of T Pathamanbhant to be inculded in this list as they are beautiful stories in the Malayalam

Read 'oru arabian novel factory' it can be deemed a highly controversial book,in which the author describes a middle-east country which is plagued by cicvil unrest in highlight of jasmine revolution or arab spring,the depth and minute things that benyamin portrays is like you watch it front of you, mullapoo manmulla ravukal is about a book supposedly written by a Pakistani expat who lived in that country during this civil unrest,both are amazing and ewen though both books describe the revolution, benyamin takes it to a different t angle , a good book if you know a of recent Arab spring

T.D Ramakrishnan's ' Francis Etticora' is a rarest classic.
Malayatoors's 'Yakshi'-psyco-thriller, Benyamen's 'Manjaveyil Maranangal' are the rarest thrillers.

Being a 'Malayalam-must-read-books'-list' it would be more appropriate if we select/add books on the basis of one more criterion namely 'by-a-Malayali-author'. This would allow identifying and promoting unknown/unheard of Malayalam authors and titles which I believe are mostly overshadowed by the books of big authors, promoted through mainstream.
In my opinion, inclusion of books translated from other languages beats the purpose of this list . This could lead to inclusion of translated fiction from the western countries and other regions which is irrelevant to this list (like the ones in #109 & #117).

I read the books mentioned above and I felt they are touching, readable and priaseworthy. But the reason why they are not so popular because they are published after his Magnum opus 'Adu Jeevitham'.The same fate can be seen in several other good books. Milton's 'Lycidas' is an excellent example.

I read the books mentioned above and I felt they are touching, readable and priaseworthy. But the reason why they are not so popular because they are published after his Magnum opus 'Adu Jeevitham'.The same fate can be seen in several other good books. Milton's 'Lycidas' is an excellent example.
I like to add Kakkanadan's 'Mazhanizhal Pradesham' among this list.

Read 'oru arabian novel factory' it can be deemed a highly controversial book,in which the author describes a middle-east country which is plagued by cicvil unrest in highlight of jasmine revolution or arab spring,the depth and minute things that benyamin portrays is like you watch it front of you, mullapoo manmulla ravukal is about a book supposedly written by a Pakistani expat who lived in that country during this civil unrest,both are amazing and ewen though both books describe the revolution, benyamin takes it to a different t angle , a good book if you know a of recent Arab spring
